Education is a process by which man transmits his experiences, new findings, and values accumulated over the years, in his struggle for survival and development, through generations. It is also true that Education enables individuals and society to make all-rounded participation in the development process by acquiring knowledge, ability, skills and attitudes (MOE, 1994). To accomplish these activities, colleges are one of the levels of higher educational institutions. The rightly established colleges profoundly support students of high schools and preparatory graduates.

It also fills academic need for those who did not get chance to join government higher education institutions.Colleges are supposed to develop students’ knowledge and practical skills, emotional development, cognitive development, language development, social development and social consciousness, esthetical development and creativity, ethical development and morality. Accordingly, colleges should cater to all these aspects of development and stimulate their academic interactions. As we have already mentioned the WoretaCollege is a newly designed, need assessment is expected to launch its operation early in the beginning of 2013 E.C academic year.

The Woreta Health Science and Business College is expected to support the society by functioning Amhara Regional State ,South Gondar Zone Woreta Town and surrounding rural administrative distrcts/woredas of Ethiopia by providing quality education in Regular Education modality. It is presumed to provide education in wide streams of health and business. Furthermore, the college will enlarge its scope by adding degree programs depending on the need analysis. The college is supposed to certify graduates after completion of all expected courses as pre declared by HERQA.

Furthermore, to achieve its aim the college will work hard to provide the training according to the national standards and the experience of other Higher educations. It is clearly provision of quality training satisfies a great demand in the labor market both regionally and nationally. Thus the college will arrange every required facilities and resources that will help to deliver this program according to the national standards and to the best satisfaction of the society.

Woreta is administrative center for Fogera Woreda in south Gondar zone. The town is located 45 km west of Debretabor, 60 kms east of the Bahir Dar and 116 kms south of Gondar town. Fogera Woreda shares boundaries with Dera woreda,, southward Libo Kemkem& Ebinnat woredas northward and Farta Woreda eastward. Fogera Woreda is one of the hot spots of economic activities in the south Gondar zone with chief production of the rice , tomato , and onion with continuous year round supply for the town and surrounding Woredas. Because of this the town has high trade activities, hotels services and massive migration from different districts and towns of the north and south Gondar zones. Currently Ethiopian shipping logistics service has also started Woreta dry port which attracts investors and workers.

All these geographic locations and business activities makes Woreta center for education including College Higher Institution. Woreta has only one private owned college which largely admits student in TVET programs which does not fulfil academic demands of the society. So Woreta is a novel college with all degree programs specially with Health science fields which is not provided by the existing college. We hope all these reasons make our assumption to establish this college acceptable and reasonable.

It is established to function as an academic institution in the country and provides training in the endeavor to produce competent and productive graduates who can satisfy the healthcare and socio-economic demand of the country and in the region of East Africa.
